For the first time in school history, the Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustang Softball team has confirmed their spot in the playoffs. The Lady Mustangs faced Cole at home last night, April 13th, and closed out the game in the third inning, winning 15-0. The Lady Mustangs played a perfect game with no errors defensively. Kendall Amaya pitched the perfect game with 37 pitches, no walks or HBP, and 4 strike outs. At bat, Mady Velasquez went 3/3 with 2 hits and a walk, Natalee Mendez went 2/3 with an inside the park home run, Carlee Cano went 3/3 with 1 walk and 2 HBPs, and Greenlee Houseton went deep for her second over the fence home run of the season
The Lady Mustangs will take on Luling at 6:00 pm this Friday, April 16th. With two games left in the season, the Lady Mustangs will be competing for a top spot in the playoff bracket. Be sure to come out and support the girls as the continue to work toward an unforgettable season!
