A substitute teacher training session will be held at La Casita this Friday (18th) at 9:30 am. This training is open to previously employed subs and new applicants wanting to become a substitute teacher. The course should take 1 1/2 hours.

Substitute training for returning and new subs is on Tuesday, August 25th, from 2-3:30 pm at the MS/HS Library in Nixon.
Parents and Guardians - please be sure you have submitted your choice form for the type of instruction you want for your child(ren) in the fall (in person, remote online, or remote paper packets). That will allow us to build schedules and assign your child’s teachers. If you do not do so by today, there will be delays in assigning your child(ren) to a teacher or getting their class schedule.
Online registration will be open on August 13-14. All students must be registered for the 2020-2021 school year even if remote instruction is chosen. If assistance with online registration is needed, call your chid's campus to make an appointment.
Vaccinations and Screenings All students enrolled at NSCISD must have proof of current immunizations prior to the school start date of 9/1/2020. This includes students enrolled in the remote online option. All students will be required to have vision, hearing and spinal screenings, including students enrolled in the remote online option. Screenings for off-campus students will be by appointment only in order to follow social distancing guidelines. Scheduling information will be posted as it becomes available. The Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District will provide free breakfast and lunch to any child from 1-18 years old. The meals will be served from Wednesday, August 12th through Monday, August 31st. This service will be provided daily, Monday through Friday. There will be a grab and go option where the student and/or parent may pick up at the cafeteria – breakfast from 7:30 – 9:00 am and lunch from 11:00 – 1:00 pm. We will also deliver breakfast/lunch combo meals by bus as we did back in March, April, and May. Buses will leave the cafeteria at 10:00 am and will run the same bus (meal) routes stopping at the locations we used previously. If you are not familiar with the stop that is nearest your location, you may call Kathy Kahn at 830-582-1536 ext. 117. We hope this service is useful for our community while we transition to instruction beginning September 1, 2020.

You will have to make a choice of either the High School book or the Middle School/Elementary book. High School books cost $40.00, and the Middle School/Elementary books are $25.00. NSCISD SHAC Adventure Race has been canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.

From March 16th- March 20th, 2020, "grab-and-go" breakfast and lunch will be available for all children under age 18 in the Nixon-Smiley CISD attendance zone. Due to the expected inclement weather, NSCISD is disappointed to announce that we have canceled our Trunk or Treat Festival scheduled for Wednesday, October 29th. We appreciate all who planned to be a part of this event and apologize for having to make this difficult decision. However, we believe it is in the best interest of everyone to stay inside where it is dry and warm. We look forward to resuming this tradition next year.

Calling all elementary students’ grandparents! We will be celebrating Grandparents Day at school on Friday, September 7th from 8:00-9:00 AM for grades PK AM/HS to 4th grade and from 1:00-1:45 for PK PM.
