On Thursday, April 30th, the Secondary Library hosted a chess tournament for students from the middle and high school campuses. Students competed in blitz and regular play rounds, in a best two out of three match system. Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the challenge, and especially to our top four contestants - sophomore, Rylin Flores; junior, Jeremiah Morrison, our Second Place Finisher, fifth grader, Aiden Dominguez, and our Grand Champion, junior, Oscar Gamez! Shine bright, Mustangs!

All students going to 7th, 9th, and 11th grade MUST have a physical to participate in Athletics, Band, or Cheer. Students in other grades who had injuries will also require an updated physical. We are hosting physicals here on the middle school campus tomorrow afternoon. If you would like your child to get a physical, please send them with the money and physical paperwork tomorrow.

We are proud to announce the publication of the First Edition of Mustang Manuscript - A Student Literary Magazine for and by the students of Nixon-Smiley. Many middle and high school students have submitted to the magazine to make this a FANTASTIC first edition. We are offering physicals on campus again this year! Physicals will be offered on May 1st. All incoming 7th, 9th and 11th graders are required to have a physical. Anyone that had a surgery or major injury needs one as well. Band students can get their physicals as well! Middle school students will get theirs done during the school day and HS will begin in girls athletics and run until after school. Please send cash or check with your students, $25 per physical! New Hours! After-School Library Monday through Wednesday and Friday open until 4:30 PM - Closed before and after school on Thursdays.

We are pleased to share our Mustang Basketball playoff shirt. These are open now and will close on Tuesday at 6 PM. It is a tight turnaround, so we can have them for the game.
