Nixon-Smiley CISD Family,
The District administration has traveled the area roads and determined that they are safe to travel at this point in time. However, the National Weather Service is forecasting another round of strong storms for our area tonight. Due to the heavy rainfall from today and tonight’s forecasted storms, Nixon-Smiley CISD will have a two-hour delay to begin school on Thursday, January 25th. This delay enables the students to be transported in the daylight hours which allows for better visibility and safer travel.
Buses will pick up at regular stops two hours later than their normal pick up time.
Elementary classes will begin at 9:45 am. Doors will open at 9:20 am for car line.
Middle School classes will begin at 9:50 am (tardy bell). Cafeteria will open at 9:00 for Middle School students. If you are dropping off your child, please drop them off at Circle Drive.
High School classes will begin at 9:50 am (tardy bell). There will be no morning senior-releases for high school students. All students are expected to be at school by 9:50 am.
DAEP drop-off will begin at 10:15 am.
Both breakfast and lunch will be served.
All athletic events will be played as scheduled.

Due to the heavy rain overnight, flooding in the local area, and more rain forecasted for today, Nixon-Smiley CISD and DAEP campuses be closed today (Wednesday, January 24)
