
Boys Basketball vs Cole: Based on the current COVID-19 conditions, we have been informed by the JBSA Commander, BG Caroline Miller that we must return to mandatory mask wear while inside all DoD facilities to include all school facilities within FSHISD. Please understand that these are difficult times, and we are trying to do our best to ensure the safety of everyone involved. In accordance with Covid-19 procedures, we ask that anyone not actively participating in play, wear a mask. This includes on the bench and in the stands. Please inform your fans that this is a mandate form the JBSA Commander and a requirement while on the base.

The Mustangs protected home court on Tuesday in an overtime thriller vs. the Luling Eagles. Luling jumped out to an early 27-14 lead in the 1st half, but the Mustangs came storming back led by Dustin Mejia and his game-high 26 points. The game was capped off with some huge free throws down the stretch. The final score was Nixon-Smiley 57, Luling Eagles 51. The Mustangs are now 2-0 in District and will play their next game at home against Great Hearts Monte Vista.

Fort Sam Houston ISD (Cole) has implemented a mask mandate for ALL indoor sports. Parents, guests, coaches and players on the bench must be wear a mask until further notice. The athletes actively participating in the game do not have to wear a mask.

Our Mustangs traveled to Bloomington last evening to take on the Bobcats. Our sub-varsity earned their first win of the season. They were led by Tristan Mikesh, John Garza and Dakota O'neal. The varsity came out a bit slow at the start but were able to pick up the energy in the second half on their way to another victory. The varsity will be competing in the Moulton tournament over the weekend and then will play their first home game of the season, as well as the sub varsity, on Tuesday December 14th against Gonzales. We hope to see you there.

The Mustangs traveled to Nordheim on Saturday evening to play in the championship game of the Nordheim Invitational tournament. They defeated the host school in a 49-48 thriller, scoring the final basket with 2.1 seconds remaining in the game. Although there were several outstanding individual performances it was truly a complete team effort and victory. We would also like to recognize and thank all of the fan support not only in the championship game but throughout the entire tournament. Your support was a huge factor in the success of the team. Thank you again! The Mustangs will be back in action this week. We will travel to Bloomington on Tuesday to take on the Bobcats and then on Thursday and Friday we will be participating in the Moulton Invitational tournament. The Mustang Basketball team is participating in the Nordheim invitational this weekend. The team is off to a good start. We played our first two games of the tournament yesterday. Beating the Runge Yellowjackets 85 - 26. The Mustangs then came back in the late afternoon to beat the Industrial Cobras 53 - 38. The Mustangs will return to Nordheim tomorrow to play for the championship at 5:30pm. Their opponent has yet to be determined. Good luck Mustangs!

Last night, the Varsity Mustangs were victorious by a score of 46 - 44. The Mustangs were led in scoring by Dustin Mejia with 12, Bradyn Martinez 11,Holden Canion 6, Davis Abundis 5, Ruben Bomer 3, Kade Dixon, Luke Moses, Aiden Flores, Fernando Mejia with 2 each and Jeremiah Munoz with 1. The Mustangs are 2 - 0 on the season and are playing in the Nordheim tournament this weekend.

There will be no JV girls basketball game tomorrow, 11/19, in Runge. Varsity girls will play at 5:00, followed by the boys Varsity. Tickets will be sold at the gate.

The JV girls basketball game for tomorrow, Nov. 16th, @ Falls City has been cancelled. We will play Varsity only, starting at 5:00.
