Nixon-Smiley CISD is waiting for further guidance from our local leaders, UIL, and Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath. Pending further direction from those agencies, we are asking that staff and students plan to continue following our current safety protocols for quarantine, social distancing, and wearing of masks at least through March 10th. We will send an update as quickly as decisions are made regarding any guidelines after March 10th.

The Middle School track meet is in Kenedy this Friday, March 5th. Spectators are able to attend. $3 for adults and $2 for students at the gate.

This is just a reminder that NSCISD will have tacos to go from 11:30-1:00 at the Nixon and Smiley cafeterias for any children ages 1-18.

All extracurricular activities (games and practices) are suspended until school resumes on Monday(22nd). Take care and stay safe.

Nixon-Smiley CISD will remain closed on Friday, February 19th. We hope this will allow our community and staff members a day to make repairs and dig out of this mess.

Due to continued issues with water and electricity around our community, plus anticipated freezing rain tonight and tomorrow, Nixon-Smiley CISD will remain closed Thursday, February 18th.

Due to continued power outages and the threat of more ice/sleet tonight, NSCISD will not have school on Wednesday. We will continue monitoring the situation and send out updates as we have them. We are all anxious to get back to school but student/staff safety will continue being our top priority.

The middle school girls basketball games scheduled for Monday, December 14th have been cancelled due to Stockdale dealing with health issues. The Lady Mustangs JV & Varsity basketball games scheduled for Friday, December 18th at Cole High School have been postponed due to health issues at Cole high school.

The Middle School N-S Lady Mustangs faced Luling in their final match of the season. All three of our Lady Mustang teams came out victorious over Luling. 8th Grade B started the evening with a sweep of Luling in 2 sets, winning 25-21 and 25-19. The 7th Grade Lady Mustangs went the limit with Luling, winning in 3 sets. Scores were 25-9, 16-25 and 15-6. The 8th Grade A Lady Mustangs closed the evening in a 3 set match as well, winning by scores of 25-21, 16-25, 15-12. The 7th Grade finished with a final record of 3-3, 8th Grade A finished with a record of 4-2, and 8th B finished with a 4-0 record. These young Lady Mustangs worked extremely hard and tirelessly this season and the MS Lady Mustang coaching staff is extremely proud of our girls and the opportunities that lie ahead for Lady Mustang volleyball! GO MUSTANGS GO!!

Due to injuries, the (2) middle school football games scheduled for this Thursday (22nd) against Karnes City will now only be (1) game. We will combine the 7th and 8th grade teams. The start time will still be 5pm. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your support of our athletic programs.
