Last night the Nixon-Smiley Middle School football team traveled to take on the Pirates from Poth. Here are some of the highlights. The Mustangs came up on the short end of a 20 - 14 deficit. The team played a hard-fought game to the end. Nixon had the ball with the chance to win the game at the end. The Mustangs were led on offense by Aiden Flores, John Garza, and Ryan Paez. John scored two touchdowns in the 1st quarter to give the Mustangs a 14 - 0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The defense was led by Ryan Paez, Julian Amaya, Joel Salmeron, Abraham Valerio, and Nicholas Martinez. The defense stopped Poth late in the 4th quarter to give the offense one more opportunity to score and win the game. Next week the Mustangs will be playing their last home game of the season against the Badgers from Karnes City. Thank you for the support from the entire student body. Also, do not forget that next week's game is Pink Out. Some show your support in our fight against cancer. The 7th-grade game will start at 5:00, and the 8th grade will begin at 6:00. #MustangStrong

Fans, Our on-line ticket sales will begin on Tuesday (25th) at 10pm. You can purchase tickets for both football and volleyball (High School and Middle School) by selecting each individual game or match. We encourage you all to take advantage of the online ticket purchasing process. However, for those of you who wish to purchase tickets using cash, the football stadium ticket booth will be open on Wednesdays from 4 - 6pm for those purchases. Just a reminder: "THERE WILL BE NO TICKET SALES AVAILABLE AT THE GATE ON GAME NIGHT." YOU MUST HAVE A PREPAID TICKET TO ENTER. Also, there are (3) schools in the volleyball district ( SA Cole, SA Greater Hearts Monte Vista and SA Greater Hearts Northern Oaks) due to capacity concerns, they will not be allowing fans to attend home games. So tickets to those away games are not available. Also Marion is only allowing 25 visitor seats (which will be set aside for the parents of the players) and will not be available to the public. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, the health and safety of our students and community is paramount. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

That will allow us to build schedules and assign your child’s teachers. If you do not do so by today, there will be delays in assigning your child(ren) to a teacher or getting their class schedule.

The Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District will provide free breakfast and lunch to any child from 1-18 years old. The meals will be served from Wednesday, August 12th through Monday, August 31st. This service will be provided daily, Monday through Friday. There will be a grab and go option where the student and/or parent may pick up at the cafeteria – breakfast from 7:30 – 9:00 am and lunch from 11:00 – 1:00 pm. We will also deliver breakfast/lunch combo meals by bus as we did back in March, April, and May. Buses will leave the cafeteria at 10:00 am and will run the same bus (meal) routes stopping at the locations we used previously. If you are not familiar with the stop that is nearest your location, you may call Kathy Kahn at 830-582-1536 ext. 117. We hope this service is useful for our community while we transition to instruction beginning September 1, 2020.
